School Governing Bodies associations disagree with the plans to delay the reopening of public high schools. They would like for those high schools to open on 27 January 2021.


Minister Blade Nzimande says that TVET Colleges are set to reopen as per the TVET calendar for 2021, released weeks ago. 


Following the Department of Basic Education's announcement that schools will be opening on 15 February, some schools have chosen to ignore this and are having learners back. MEC Panyaza Lesufi has now pledged to combat this issue.


The enrollment of students at Unisa has to match the numbers planned as there are dangers if there are either too many or too few enrolled, explains Higher Education Minister Dr Blade Nzimande.


Minister of Higher Education, Blade Nzimande, has said that they expect NSFAS to start delivering laptops in March. The Department is also working to make data more accessible to students.


Last week, the DBE announced that the reopening of schools would take place on 15 February 2021, which is two weeks later than the initial date. This decision has caused some to be concerned about how it will affect the academic year.
