The Centre for Critical Research on Race and Identity (CCRRI) invites applications for participation in a collaborative project, Education and Emancipation: A Critical, Intervention-Oriented Investigation of Obstacles and Opportunities Within the Higher-Education-and-Training Sector in South Africa. Through funding provided by the Department of Higher Education Training, applications are invited for 10 graduate scholarships (doctoral and masters-level) to participate in national study projects.

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation has commenced its selection campaign whereby Grade 6’s can apply for a high school scholarship to become Allan Gray Scholars in Grade 8. Successful candidates will join the existing 153 Scholars at 20 of South Africa’s leading schools.

Emperors Palace hosted a graduation ceremony on 12 July 2012 to honour 12 students of the Peermont Education Trust (PET). The majority of these beneficiaries come from a disadvantaged background with some being raised by single parents or grandparents. Every year the PET Trust awards several young people scholarships to enable them to study at renowned tertiary institutions in a variety of courses. There is no obligation on the students to work for the company nor repay the grant money.
