As part of the “In-Country / In-Region Scholarship Programme”, in which more than two dozen African universities and university networks participate and which annually supports some 800 African postgraduates, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is able to offer scholarships for postgraduate studies at South African universities.

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation has commenced its selection campaign whereby Grade 6’s can apply for a high school scholarship to become Allan Gray Scholars in Grade 8. Successful candidates will join the existing 153 Scholars at 20 of South Africa’s leading schools.

That is according to the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, which seeks to equip future high growth entrepreneurs with the skills and tools to succeed. It is for this reason that the Foundation is looking to provide the country’s brightest young minds with the opportunity to excel through their high school careers.

Emperors Palace hosted a graduation ceremony on 12 July 2012 to honour 12 students of the Peermont Education Trust (PET). The majority of these beneficiaries come from a disadvantaged background with some being raised by single parents or grandparents. Every year the PET Trust awards several young people scholarships to enable them to study at renowned tertiary institutions in a variety of courses. There is no obligation on the students to work for the company nor repay the grant money.
