The South African National Biodiversity Institute is offering two three month internships to support the work of the KwaZulu-Natal Herbarium.
Applicants should be biological science students interested in gaining knowledge on taxonomy and herbaria.
Enthusiastic students in their final year of study or graduates with a BSc degree or National Diploma in Nature Conservation/ Horticulture are urged to apply.
No prior work experience is required. Good grades at university, the KZN Herbarium’s Techniques Course certificate and a keen interest in South Africa’s biodiversity will be advantages.
The candidates must be prepared to work long hours on mounting and filing herbarium specimens.
Who is eligible to apply?
We invite applications from students in final year of study or BSc or Diploma graduates.
Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged individuals.
Value of internship:
The monthly stipend offered is
- Final year undergraduate = R4 500
- Diploma completed = R5 000
- Bachelors completed = R6 050
No other benefits apply as this is an internship position.
