Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, many schools have seen a drop in learners attending school in 2020. Experts fear that these learners may not return to school in the 2021 academic year. 

Due to the second wave of the pandemic, the DBE has decided to plan for the opening of online schools to reduce the pressure on school admissions. 

Reports have been circulating about the government considering to delay the reopening of schools, however, the DA wishes to find some clarity from the DBE.

The WCED Central released a video which shows what measures will be taken at schools once learners return from 1 June.
