College of Cape Town was amongst the Western Cape’s most influential business professionals to be awarded certification as one of the Top 300 businesses in the Western Cape.

The award was presented to Mrs Elsie Potgieter, Deputy-Principal: Innovation & Development during the pre-launch Networking Breakfast of the Western Cape Top 300 business directory, which was hosted in the tallest building in Cape Town CBD, the five-star green-rated FNB Portside building, on Friday, 29 August.

As the leader in the Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET, previously known as FET) sector in the Western Cape, College of Cape Town’s presence amongst top businesses such as the City of Cape Town, Wesgro and Integr8, amongst others, signified the prominence and prestige of the event.

Mr Louis van Niekerk, Principal and CEO welcomed the award. “This acknowledgement of the value attributed to the role the College of Cape Town plays in not only the Western Cape, but at national level, is an affirmation of the efforts put in by dedicated staff to provide in the economic needs of our communities and our country.

We are honoured to receive this award, and to be acknowledged at such a high level for the positive impact we bring about through the provision of quality education and training.

This award not only acknowledges that we are developing the potential of our clients through quality Education and Training in response to the skills development needs of the country, but serves as assurance that our dedication to constant innovation and quality improvements are setting a benchmark for technical and vocational education and training in South Africa,” he said.

Premier of the Western Cape Helen Zille presented the keynote address, pinpointing the necessity of a solid relationship between government and businesses in order for the province, and the nation as a whole, to continue to prosper on the global stage.

Ms Zille indicated the province’s dedication to skills development within the province, and College of Cape Town is a proud key role-player in addressing the skills need through quality training initiatives and close relationships with business and industry.

Three-time winner at the National Business Awards Lance Fanaroff, Integr8 Co-Founder and CEO, highlighted how to effectively use the exposure to further business interests even beyond the province’s borders, with specific reference to Integr8’s own success.

First National Bank General Manger Stephan Claassen gave delegates an express tour of the venue, which has been awarded five stars for its eco-friendliness and urban ecology.

One fast-track networking session was held where delegates were granted the opportunity to exchange business cards with fellow leading companies from around the Western Cape.

Western Cape Top 300 is a publication that showcases the province’s top contributing companies that propel the Western Cape economy forward.

The publication is the ultimate business resource that positions the province as one of the most innovative corporate hubs in South Africa.
